Trees "breathe" CO2 (carbon dioxide) through extremely small openings between the plants cells on the bottom of the leaf, called stomata (stoma singular). Through the same stomata O2 leaves the leaf.

trees breath in carbon dyoxide, which is bad air for us but good air for them. We breath out carbon dyoxide every time we breath out because we are getting rid of all the bad things in oxygen. When trees breath in our carbon dyoxide, they produce oxygen, which we breath in.
