Baking soda (and all soluble solids) disolve faster in hot water because the heat makes the water molecules move faster. Therefore, they can break up the baking soda into individual ions faster: when a sodium or hydrogen atom is an the edge of a clump of baking soda, the oxygens of water molecules surround them and pull them off. That exposes a carbonate ion, which the hydrogens of water molecules surround and pull off. This repeats until all of the baking soda is broken down into ions.

∙ 12y agoAlka-Seltzer contains various soluable compounds, such as asperin and citric acid, combined in a tablet form with bicarbonate of soda. The bicarbonate of soda reacts when it is in a liquid, giving off carbon dioxide. This action makes the other materials present disolve faster than they otherwise would. The bicarbonate of soda also helps neutralize some stomach acid when the resulting solution is drunk.

Sugar has a solubility of 211.5 g/100 mL of water where salt only is ~37 g/ 100 mL. Sugar still dissolves faster even though apple juice has 10.8 g of sugar per 100 mL, since the solubility is as high as it is, sugar would dissolve first.

Orange Juice is Acidic - Alka-Seltzer is a base (Alkaline) - It would be like trying to light a candle made out of ice. What you can do is putt 60 Alka-Seltzer tablets in a glass mason jar with 80% water in it and screw that top on tightly to deal with depression and heartburn. I found this works better than mixing with orange juice. I also know how to make a hole in a beer can toward the top so essentially you are drinking out of a cup for increased guzzle ability.
