[Edit]
An electric generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy with the help of electromagnetic induction. This is done by moving a conductor thorough a magnetic, it induces current in the conductor which is moving continuously. The mechanical energy in conductor is converted into electricity which in turn flows into wires. There is a brown hand crank in the front of the generator which provides the mechanical energy to turn the generator by spinning the metal wires inside the magnetic field. By doing this it causes electricity to flow in the wires which are connected to a volt meter. A volt meter shows the amount of electricity generated.
hope this helps :)
