because in a freezer its really cold so the ice cube freezes and when you take the ice cube out the freezer it melts because it is hotter outside the freezer. (there is a change in temperature) :) It booms into water if it gets too warm

they don't! because the temperature in a freezer keeps the ice cube solid.
