People don't want to eat, or they eat alot then make themselves throw it up. It can affect your family, friends, co-workers. Not contagious! Like mentally, or physically. Very hard to live with. It can mess up your whole life. yer anorexic people have no life!!!!!!!
In an individual who sufferes from anorexia, their mental states could be sonsidered a little "off", to put it one way. Anorexia often stems from the mind, forcing the body to harm itself through starvation. Usually, it is because the mind is convinced that the body is fat, when it usually isn't. This can be caused by a mental disorder called Body Dismorphic Disorder (BDD). People who suffer from BDD often see things about themselevs and their bodies in an exaggerated way. For example, they may see a curve of the hip and massive amounts of fat on their body, which it isn't. Anorexia can also cause depression in people. Anorexia can lead to isolation and keeping mroe secrets, which ruins the bonds a person holds with others around them. Depression can make anorexia worse, too, and bring along thoughts of suicide. (Anorexia is sort of like suicide, as a person is starving themselves and could die as a result of doing so.)
Some effects of anorexia on a person are… * Little to no body fat left, making a person more susceptible to the cold * Dry, flaky skin * Hair (on the head) loss, dullness, thinning, becoming more lank, loss of "shine" * Hair (on the body) growth of thin, "peach-fuzz" hair called lanugo * Weakness, fainting, and dizziness * Low heart rate, low blood pressure, and low body temperature * Depression * Organ malfunction, weakening, or failure * Malnutrition / starvation (which can be fatal)
Anorexia can affect a person's physical and mental (often interrelated) health very badly. Some dangerous side effects of anorexia are...
*Malnutrition, starvation
*Brittle hair, hair loss
*Dry flaky skin
*Weak, brittle, discolored nails
*Anemia
*Nerve damage
*Depression
*Loss of menstrual cycle (in women)
*Lowered sex drive (in men)
*Low body fat
*Feeling cold (when others are not), increased risk of hypothermia
*Heart damage, malfunction, murmur, failure
*Breathing difficulties
*BDD (Body Dismorphic Disorder)
*Dizziness, weakness, fainting
*Protein, B6, B12 deficiencies
*OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
it depends on what you do. if you make yourself vomit, then your teeth will get damaged. if you starve yourself, you'll feel horrible. either way you get really skinny. too the point where you can see your bones. and the fact that the person is losing weight makes them think that its working so they keep doing it. i know from personal experience.
There are many different physical, medical, and mental complications that can accompany anorexia. Some physical afflictons (but not all) include....
* Weight loss
* Brittle bones
* Vitamin / Mineral defficieny
* Dry skin
* Hair loss
* Discolored nails
* Stress on kidneys, liver, and lungs
* Heart murmur, heart attack, heart failure
* Dizziness
* Fainting
* Fatigue
* Loss of menstrual cycle (women)
* Loss of sex drive (men)
* Disordered mental state
* Excessive exercising

Osteoporosis is irreversible in people with anorexia. Other health conditions resulting from anorexia are generally reversible.
Mental and emotional health form one component of your "health triangle", along with physical and social health. The elements of this triangle affect the other elements. For example, if your mental and emotional health is poor, it might lead to bad eating habits as you try to cope with sadness, or lethargy, if depression makes you lose the will to exercise. Thus, poor mental and emotional health has a negative impact upon your physical health.
