The cacti only reproduce asexually so someone has to reproduce them. The thorns on cacti are like seeds. In the desert there is no people to reproduce the cacti so when the thorn gets so old it falls of. If you want to reproduce one you will probaly need a green house. If you dont have one you can take a plastic bag and poke small holes in it and drape it over the cactus. You will need to go through a process wich is called harding off. That is were you cut down on the water and fertilizer once a week.

Cycads reproduce in a similar fashion to gymnosperms (pines etc.) - through the use of male and female cones.

Seeds are normally hard and nut-like, they are often covered with a tough brightly coloured outer coating (often red or yellow).

Cacti are flowering plants whose flowers produce seed-bearing fruit. Many cactus species are pollinated by bats, and many can also reproduce from broken off pieces of cacti.
