Charlie Sheen wasn't killed; he was fired. Charlie Harper was killed.
The last episode in which Charlie was alive was the last episode of Season 8, "That Darned Priest", which originally aired in February 2011. That was the episode in which Alan was ripping off his family and friends with a Ponzi scheme and when he found out that Rose's husband, Manny Quinn, is actually a mannequin.
During the summer of '11, between the 8th and 9th seasons, the show's producers ran out of patience with Charlie, who was allegedly out of control and using illegal drugs heavily, and fired him. The premier of Season 9, "Nice to Meet You, Walden Schmidt", opened with Charlie's funeral, during which it was implied that in response the Charlie's cheating on her, Rose pushed him in front of an oncoming train.

His character was pushed him in front of a train by Rose.
