Depends on the type of injection system, standard diesels are direct injection and use a 20:1 compression ratio( ratio varies by manufacturer but not a lot) at this compression the temperature of the atomized diesel fuel get so high it self ignites forcing the piston down on it's power stroke. On engines that use glow plugs, the diesel gets injected into a pre-combustion chamber and is heated by the glow plug to assist in starting but compression is still the key ignition factor.
diesel burning engines will burn almost anything including canola oil, jet fuel, but gasoline can cause catastrophic failure. if you want to know more look up a man by the name of Rudolf diesel, the inventor of the first diesel fueled internal combustion engine.
only if it has a diesel engine. A gasoline engine will not run properly on diesel fuel.
Diesel engines run on diesel fuel. Gasoline will destroy a diesel engine.
Gasoline engines cannot run on diesel. Only a diesel engine can run diesel. And a diesel engine cannot run on gasoline.
Flex fuel does not mean you can use diesel. It means the engine can run on pure gasoline or on E85 gasoline. If you put diesel in this vehicle it simply will not run. Diesel can only be used in a diesel engine.
Anything that can be burned to run a diesel engine.
peanut oil was the first fuel for the diesel engine
No. A petrol or gasoline engine will not run on diesel fuel.
Only if the engine was designed to run on diesel.
Rudolph Diesel
You will destroy a diesel engine if you run gasoline in it. Do not even start the engine. You will have to drain the fuel tank, and all fuel lines.
Yes, it will smoke and will not run correctly, if at all. Diesel fuel will not explode and instead produce smoke. It can also clog your fuel injection. If diesel is added to a gasoline tank, the fuel should be removed. If there is too much diesel mixed in, the engine will likely not run at all.
