To be completely honest, delivery is scary. But its usually over before you really have a chance to realize what exactly is going on. Labor begins once your water breaks and that can last anywhere from and hour or two to days. When my son was born, I went into labor at 7 AM and my son was born at 12:04 AM the next day so it was a while. Most of that however I didn't feel any pain because I got an epideral. Once you arrive at the hospital, you'll be taken to the maternity ward and put in a nice room so you can be comfortable. There will be some paper work that will need to be taken care of but nothing too strenuous. If you want a epideral, ask the nurse once you start to be bothered by the pain. Just remember that once you get the epideral, you won't be able to walk around but trust me, you won't mind. The epideral hurts alot but it only hurts for a minute and is nothing compared to the pain of birth so don't worry about that! Once you dialate 10 cm. your nurse will come in, take your legs and ask you to push down like your pushing your bottom to the floor. This is crowning. Once the baby crowns, you are able to stop for a moment as the neonatal team comes in and prepares for the baby that's about to come into the world. Your doctor will come in at this point and aids in "catching" the baby as it comes out and cuts the umbilical cord. The baby is then handed to another person that cleans the baby, swaddles him, and shapes his head (the baby comes out with a cone-shaped head. Don't worry, it doesn't stay that way). If all is well, they will hand your newborn to you and you will get to see your tiny bundle of joy for the first time!
