How does energy contribute to global warming?

Answer:
Most energy we use comes from fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This is used to drive transport and industry as well as generating electricity.

Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide that has been underground for millions of years, thus adding markedly to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

This increase in greenhouse gases is warming up the planet and causing global warming.
