Heat transfer occurs because in nature things are driven towards a point of equilibrium (all things being the same). This is expressed in the second law of thermodynamics which is an expression of the tendency that over time, differences in temperature, pressure, and chemical potential equilibrate in an isolated physical system.

Heat transfer happens in one of three ways.

1 --- Conduction (direct transfer of heat by one object in contact with another)

2 --- Convection (heat moving by means of air)

3 --- Radiation (light energy).

heat is transfered in three different ways:

radiation

condensation

and convection

condensation is from gases and steam

convection is by touch

and radiation is by light

Thermal heat is transferred by heating one molecule and having it spread the thermal heat to its neighboring molecules, which spread the thermal heat to its neighboring molecules and so on, until the thermal heat is spread throughout the element.

What is convective heat transfer?

Convection heat transfer is the transfer of heat by the movement of a fluid.

What are two examples of heat transfer?

Convection - heat transfer through liquids.Conduction - heat transfer through solids.Radiation - heat transfer through vacuum.

What is convective heat?

Convection heat transfer is the transfer of heat by the movement of a fluid.

How does temperature affect the rate of heat transfer?

For conductive and convective heat transfer, the rate of heat transfer is proportional to the the temperature difference; if you double the difference you will double the rate of heat transfer. For radiative heat transfer, the rate of heat transfer is proportional to the difference of the 4th powers of the absolute temperatures.

The transfer of heat by fluid?

The transfer of heat by fluid is convection.

What do conduction and convection have in common?

They're both modes of heat transfer via material media.

How heat transfer is controlled?

There is a special mechanism that controls heat transfer.

Winds transfer heat energy by what method of heat transfer?

convection

Is convection the main type of heat transfer?

No, in the universe radiation heat transfer is by far the largest transfer.

Is conduction a heat transfer by direct contact of particles of matter?

Yes, whereas convection heat transfer is the transfer of heat via a liquid, and radiative heat transfer occurs through empty space (like the heat you feel from the sun).

What is heat transferred in?

Radiation in heat transfer is one of three known modes of heat transfer: conduction (as heat transfer in solids and less effective in liquids)), Convection (as in liquids and gases), and radiation (that not necessarily require a medium for the transfer). Heat of sun is transferred to us in the vacuum space by radiation heat transfer.
