Infrared radiation or light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum and acts the same as visible light does.Infrared can be absorbed and reflected by objects much the same way as visible light. More on Infrared:
  • Some black objects that absorb visible light radiation may reflect infrared.
  • Much of the absorbed visible light energy is re-emitted as infrared up to many hours later.
  • There are subcategories of infrared, two common ones are near-infrared and far-infrared. Near being closer to visible light.

Which of the following properties of sound is the most similar to the brightness of light?

Both sound and light waves reflect. Sound waves reflect off of objects to create an echo. Light waves reflect off of objects and point the light in another direction.

Why are you unable to see non- luminous objects in a dark box?

Because light can't directly reach the objects, or reflect well off the inside walls of the box. So not enough light bounces off the walls, then bounces off the objects, and then goes to your eyes.

Why can you see a cup even though it does not give off light?

Objects that don't give off light - like a cup - reflect incoming light.

Why do colours of objects look different in the night?

there is no light to reflect off the object that you want to see

Why do a yellow bus appear yellow?

Colours appear the way they are because of light. Objects such as this bus reflect colours from light..thats why most things apear black in the dark because there is little or no light to reflect off of. Yellow objects reflect yellow while absorbing remaining colours

What energy does the infrared light give off?

Infrared light doesn't "give off" energy; in this case, it IS the energy.

What object in the solar system gives off its own heat and light?

The sun. All other objects reflect heat and light from the sun.

How do we see luminous objects?

We can see non-luminous objects because the light reflect off the object and into our eyes that's why at night you can only see a faint out line of the objects around you

How you are able to see objects that do not give off light?

An object that does not give off light on itself is still able to reflect incoming light. This is the case with most objects arount you that you see, precisely, because they receive light from the Sun or from some lamp.

Do hotter objects emit more infrared radiation?

True , because the warmer objects give off more infrared radiation than cooler objects ..

Does the sun reflect light or gives off light?

gives off light
