Lightning starts by a Thunder storm. Thunderstorms always come with a lot of wind. The wind starts to rub the surface of the ground and buildings. This action brings the electrons to the clouds. The ground becomes positively charged and the bottom of the cloud becomes negative and upper part becomes positive. Since clouds are better conductors than air, the clouds start to build up charges. This causes the lightning. Once lightning hits a tree, or another object, not just the ground, then the current moves through the tree and continues to spread horizontally.

∙ 11y agoLightning is an extremely large electrical static discharge that raises the local temperature to around 54,000 degrees F (30,000 C). This is hot enough to fuse sand into glass, let alone ignite ordinary flammable fuels such as trees and houses made of wood. A single "dry lightning" storm could start several hundred fires, most of which naturally burn themselves out quietly.

∙ 12y agoIt usually starts by one lightning strike on a very dry tree to start the fire. since lightning is made up of electricity, it gets so hot that when it strikes a dry tree, it will catch on fire and that's all it takes to start a forest fire.

have so much bacillus and dry leaves, dry trees, The dry leaves and trees are easy blazing. when lightning, the lighting will make a huge heat power, when the heat touch the dry leaves and trees, the fire produced, so that's why lighting cause forest fires.

∙ 14y agoLighting creates a spark on the dry brush that is almost like taking a match to wood that has lighter fluid added to it. So when it strikes the dry brush it has the capacity to take it from what would be just a spot fire to a more severe hotter burning fire.
Lightning is extremely hot; it is 4x hotter than the surface of the sun! If it is attracted to the charge of something on the ground, it strikes it, and if the thing it hits is flamable, it catches on fire.
