rectifier diodes handle larger amounts of power. A switching diode handles much less amperage but at a quicker rate. There are switching diodes that can switch power on and off in several nano-seconds.

A switch opens or closes an electrical circuit. A limit switch is a switch that is arranged to open or close an electrical circuit when a physical parameter is at its limit. Often, the limit is physical travel, such as a limit switch that prevents an electro-mechanical device from operating beyond its limits. Other times, limit switches measure water pressure or temperature, opening or closing when the "limit" is reached.

Limit switches, regardless of their final purpose, can only perform two functions. The switches either activate (turn on) or deactivate (turn off) an electrical circuit. Most limit switches that are used for the home remain hidden from the user, so at times when something activates or deactivates, it can be a mystery.

Open the refrigerator and the light comes on. Close the door and the light should go off. That small light switch is actually a limit switch at work.

Working of a limit switch

The basic limit switch has a spring-loaded push button connected to an electrical circuit. When the push button (actuator) is pushed inside it trips or activates the electrical circuit. The electrical circuit then signals a machine element to stop or start its motion. Once the pressure on the push button is removed, it comes back to its original position and is ready for the next cycle.

Both are giving signal to control. But their is different way to control. Tansmitter giving anolog output signal and the switch giving digital output signal.

A: A switch will have no resistance to speak of across when closed. A diode will have a definite voltage drop across if conducting

Transfer switch means it can transfer the energy from one point to another point. safety switch has automatically control ex: in boilers there are some safety control devices if the preesure/temp exceeds the limit it will automatocally opens. sets the condition. safety switches also work like this.
