How does materialistic evolution stand in opposition to what the Bible says about the world?

Answer:

Answer

Materialistic Evolution differs from Theistic Evolution in saying that God does not actively interfere with evolution, with two different types of Materialistic Evolution: methodological materialistic evolution and philosophical materialistic evolution.

Methodological materialism limits itself to describing the natural world with natural causes; it says nothing at all about the supernatural, neither affirming nor denying its existence or its role in life. This view is consistent with Stephen J Gould's thesis of two nonoverlapping magisteria, in which science explains how the world works but does not attempt to prove or disprove the supernatural, while religion restricts itself to why we are here and does not attempt to explain the natural world.

Philosophical materialism says that the supernatural does not exist. It says that not only is evolution a natural process, but so is everything else.

Thus, the different strands of Materialistic Evolution cover a range of views, from accepting that the Bible is relevant for discussions of human purpose, to saying that God does not exist and that everything comes about by natural process. Unlike theistic evolution, there is no need for a God.

The materialist evolutionary view is described by Atheist Michael Ruse as an alternative religious view to the biblical creationist view of origins.

Effectively this view seeks to explain all things in terms of materialistic answers only -God and the supernatural are ruled out as acceptable explanations.

The Bible view of the history of the workld and mankind in particular is quite different both in terms of the origins issue and in terms of the history of the world since it began. One example is the flood which is denied by materialistic evolution even though many geologists now accept the great deal of evidence on the planet for catastriophic causes for much of the rock strata that exist. The Bible of course teaches that there was a worldwide flood which acccounts for much of what we see.

The Bible teaches that we are all ''of one blood'' having descended from one human couple, Adam and Eve, in the relatively recent past. This latter view is of course backed up by the discoveries of modern medicine and genetics which recognize that all humans are essentially very similar. In this case materialistic explanations of origins are at odds with both the Bible mainstream science.
