To install an OS you need to have the installation files. You can download most of the Linux ones free on the internet.
If you have windows and want to keep it, you should tell the installation program to use un-used space to create the partitions required by Linux.
If you are replacing a OS by Linux, tell the installation program to erase all data on you drives and install Linux after.
