How does one re engage the power top to a 1997 BMW 328i convertible after pulling the lever to manually close the top?

[Edit]

Answer

You shouldn"t have to manually close the top on your 97. the top is all electric, so it should close and open at the push of a button. the 95 and below actually had to when opening, push up the top to a certain height before the convertable top would catch and then automatically open. And when closing, stops at a certain point. then you have to pull down and lock the top yourself, even though it was electric as well.

Actually - the motor comes apart on the convertible top located in the truck - find the motor and you'll see it has disengaged from the gears - simply push it back up into place with your hands it it will work again.
