How does politics effect religion?

Answer:

I read somewhere that when politics and religion are separate, they both exist for the freedom of the people. The former by protecting rights and liberties of the people, and the latter by protecting the free will of mankind. When politics and religion are mixed, then a struggle ensues. The struggle goes back and forth between politics and religion and is generally for superiority of one or the other. The final outcome of the struggle depends on who wins the struggle. If politics wins the struggle then politics becomes the tool of oppression. If religion wins the struggle then religion becomes the tool of oppression.
