Smoking causes a hardening of the arteries which in turn limits blood flow to organs such as the brain and the heart. Coronary arteries supply blood and oxygen to the heart muscle, when they become stenosed, or narrowed due to the artery becoming hardened due to smoking, limited blood gets the the heart and the muscle begins to die. Same with the brain, and the vessels that supply the brain can be very small, so narrowing of these arteries can cause a limited flow of blood to the brain causing stroke.

On a personal note, having worked in the field. There is a defendant relationship of those who smoke, and those with cardiovascular disease.

∙ 13y agoBecause heart pumps blood around the body, it must work effeincently. When you smoke, you create clots in your blood and it also decreases the amount of oxygen that can be inhaled by the lungs and oxygen is pumped THROUGH the blood around the body... Because you get blood clots and you need oxygen throughout your blood, the heart must work harder to create the amount of ocygen and blood needed... This will cause a struggle and eventually, your heart will collapse (heart attack)
