How does society stand to gain through educated and healthier people? In: Social Sciences |
[Edit] |
Society as a whole benefits from healthier people for a number of reasons:
- Fewer people calling in sick, resulting in better productivity.
- Fewer people tied up in the care of the sick, allowing them to be used to increase productivity.
- Research can go to improvement of life, rather than toward health issues.
- Think about the billions of dollars spent on the diet industry in the US every year and apply that to elimination of poverty, hunger, illiteracy, etc.
Education allows people to find better and more effective ways of doing things, which increases productivity.
ANSWER
society has already gained many times over from 'educated' people
even from hundreds and thousands of years ago, people who educated themselves in knowledge and understanding are responsible for most of the fabulous inventions, discoveries and ideas we have today
they have knowledge on their side instead of superstition, which back then was all too common,
and superstition without educated people intertwined in it would have us living in something like the dark ages, because uneducated purely superstitious people were scared of these new things and mostly considered them to be evil etc
so if we were still like that and had no education or educated people we would all still be scared of the unknows, un-understood and new
so as long as there are people out there willing to learn take everything into consideration and then teach the world humanity will always be advancing further forward
we benefit from healthier people because it helps humanity live longer and carry on our existence that bit further and longer
and of course the healthier people have better chance of enriching our lives with more knowledge due to their lust for life, energy and knowledge
