Well the nervous system is very complex. What it does is when you touch an object, this feeling goes through nerves and chemicals. Once it passes those and gets to the spinal cord, it goes all the way up to the brain and tells it what your feeling. Nerve signals do this VERY VERY fast. That's how the main signals get to your brain. But there are other signals to. Like reflex signals. These don't go to your brain. So if you were to touch something really hot, the nerve signals go to your spinal cord, and the spinal cord sends a message to the muscles in your hand and arm to pull away, and your brain doesn't even know what's happening until that signal is finally done telling your muscles to pull away. Your body does this so fast, you can't even count it.
