The nuclear atom differs from the uniform sphere model, because they both are made from different atoms because of the elements.
Ernest Rutherford created the nuclear model of an atom!
Archaic models are studied only to understand the evolution of human thought.
You probably mean "oblate spheroid," which is the 3D analogue of an ellipse. The earth and other planets, due to the competition between rotational momentum and gravity, is an oblate spheroid. You can model an oblate spheroid by rotating an ellipse around its shorter axis, just as you can model a sphere by the rotation of a circle around any diameter.
The development of atomic models in chronological order is as follows: Atoms are solid spheres. Atoms have electrons attached to their surface. Electrons move around nucleus at specific energy levels. Rapid motion of electrons around nucleus in a cloud.
Niels Bohr (the father, not the son who also got a Nobel prize) is known for: - Nuclear models with layers explaining radiation - Contributions to quantum mechanics

The stars in the Ptolemaic model of the universe move on or are attached to a celestial sphere.
Ball, globe, or sphere.
Ernest Rutherford created the nuclear model of an atom!
A sphere could be used as a three dimensional model of the earth.

The Rutherford model, or the nuclear model
it was the first model so there was nothing before it
The celestial sphere is a sphere, which contains the sky and encompasses the entire earth and has earth as the center of the solar system. While we know this not be true the model does allow for a more convient way to view what is around us. So basically the model makes it easier for us to see constellations, asterisms, planets and stars in easy to understand model. That is why it is a model and not a 100% accurate figure.
