I would say first check the power supply, change outlets and wiggle parts of the chord to see if it is simply an electrical problems. Then find someone who knows motors, take it apart, and have them check it. Make sure its a friend because it will be cheaper to replace the entire vacuum than to have someone rebuild the motor.
