Water is one of the raw materials in photosynthesis. A shortage of water can slow or even stop photosynthesis. Water is split into hydrogen molecules and oxygen, while doing so, giving off an electron. This electron travels through the electron transport chain to create ATP so with out water this process cannot occur.

Water definitely does affect photosynthesis. firstly, water is one of the main components in photosynthesis. it is combined with CO2 to make glucose (C6H12O6). Water is also responsible for opening the stomata. water is absorbed into the guard cells via osmosis. the guard cells swell up, opening the stomata. this allows for gases to enter and exit the leaf.

Water has a large effect on photosynthesis. If there isn't any water present in the plant then the water is unable to have a chemical reaction with the present carbon dioxide in order to produce glucose and oxygen.

Water molecules are necessary for the synthesis of glucose, which is the point of photosynthesis. In the chloroplasts of the cell, sunlight hits choloropyll molecules, starting an electron transport chain which takes water, H2O, and carbon dioxide, CO2, and combines them into glucose, C6H12O6. Water molecules provide the hydrogen atoms and part of the oxygen atoms necessary for the production of glucose.

Interestingly, water is also a by-product, or waste, of photosynthesis as well!

Photosystem II has an enzyme that preforms photolysis, the splitting of water for replacement electrons needed in the reaction center. Without water here the plant would soon have no photosynthetic process. Photosystem I gets it's replacement electrons from photosystem II, so even if photosystem I preformed electron cycling without II involved there would be no electrons replaced and no photosynthesis preformed without water.
