A small cut or wound will stop bleeding due to a process called coagulation, or thrombogenesis. Coagulation is only possible due to the presence of certain enzymes in the blood. It is a complicated process, but this answer will try to make it seem simple.

Blood contains an enzyme called thrombin, which is produced in the liver. When a cut occurs, the brain sends a signal to the liver to activate the thrombin, which only becomes active when there is an open wound. Thrombin joins with a specific protein in blood plasma called fibrinogen to form incredibly tiny needlelike crystals called fibrin. The joining of these two substances creates a biochemical alliance that catches blood cells called corpuscles as they try to exit the body through the wound. This, in turn, causes the formation of a plug, or blood clot, which stops the bleeding.

Pressure, put pressure on it and hold it. ================================ That's right. Assuming the cut is not serious enough to require medical attention, applying pressure on the cut is the best way to stop the bleeding.

when air mixes with yout blood (white blood cells) it starts to clot, and the clot acts similar to a dam and prevents it from bleeding. people who are animic, their blood has a harder time clotting thus them bleeding more.

In any case with a bleeding patient, hold direct pressure on the area and elevate it (if it's on an extremity). If it continues to bleed, a tourniquet may be used on an extremity, or hemostatic agent if a tourniquet can't be used on the area (such as on the abdomen).

If it is bright red spurting blood, it is an artery that was cut. If it is a dark crimson color blood that is flowing, it's venous. Oozing blood is a sign of simple capillary damage, and should be easily managed with direct pressure.

Depends where it is and what caused it usually. If the blood is flowing out slowly apply pressure and if its a finger, arm or leg apply water to wash off.

However, (only if it's pumping out) do following: it is usually a artery injured, if blood is pumping out. Quickly apply pressure, quickest way to stop blood if its pumping out (apply flour, if that doesn't do the trick add pepper on top of flour, NO I'M NOT KIDDING!) Then take white cloth if close by. In emergency us T-shirt, or slip ripped into pieces. Wrap around (just above injury) and tie cloth but not too tight. Then rush person to Emergency Room. Either, Flour or Pepper should stop it from pumping. If not, I repeat use both. Regardless, of whether it stops flow completely person will need ER room immediately to keep from bleeding to death. Try not to alarm them, but do it if need be, to make them go. {No I'm not a doctor. Flour & Pepper are hard to remove but I've seen it save many lives in a pinch to keep them from bleeding to death. I've used this several times and the doctor at ER has told them they would have died otherwise, before they could have gotten there, when blood was pumping out}. Hope this helps.

I've never been on this site before. It's interesting.

Cells called platlets patch up a scab which stops bleeding. Depending on the size of the wound the scab will be bigger or smaller.
