EU citizens are free to live and work in any other EU country (subject to the restriction placed on new member states, but Sweden-UK is not affected by this restriction). You will need to register with the Police, which is a common requirement in continental Europe. Contact the Swedish consulate, who will let you know of the exact regulations in your Police district or municipality.

Update - 2011/07/15.

There is no need to register with the Police now. As an EU member you have up to 3 months to apply for residency after you emigrate to Sweden. To obtain residency, you will need to meet one of a number of criteria.

You will need to show some form of income or financial support from a pension or independent means (you seem to have that), or you will need to have found a job, or have started your own business in Sweden. There are options to come as a student as well as coming over to live with a partner who is already registered here.

Once you have met one of these criteria you simply apply to Migrationsverket within the initial 3 month period and once accepted, can apply for the all important personal number (social registration number).

After 5 years continuously living in Sweden (holidays permitted), you can apply for permanent residency and/or citizenship. If you have a pension income, or are of independent means for example, you may be accepted if you apply for citizenship before the 5 year period.
