How effective is MySpace as a small business marketing tool?

MySpace is an fabulous tool for growing your customer base and for sharing what you have to sell or your service. We have used MySpace since our beginning and have gained at least 20% of our customers from MySpace alone. We are in a very niche market so it is easier to pick out our target and simply be friendly and share what we have to offer. It has been a great experience and we have made some actual friends there who have assisted us in our growth.

My suggestion is this. Join as your business, create your profile to suit your business feel, and look for those who would need or want what you have to sell. Try to go about it in a more social manner than business. People don't like to be 'pitched' but they do like a genuinely friendly person. Join groups where you can post photos, and comment at least one a week on someone's page.
