You can be just a day late depending on which test you purchase. If you buy one that advertises that on the box (forgive me I cannot remember the name of the test, but I have used it and got a positive at only one day late)you can use it as soon as you suspect that you may be. Knowing your cycle is crucial for this. Your best bet is to read all the boxes in the store - it will say how soon it can give you an accurate reading and remember you often get more than one test in the box)but if you'd rather not do your research in a drug store, go online and research the names of the ones that do a really early test and then you can just go and quickly pick up the one you want. If there is not enough hormones in your urine to test completely positive you may get either a negative or a mixed response but you would never get a positive unless it was true. You should wait at least two weeks after you miss your period. it depends on the pregnancy test, most tell you but I think the soonest one is 1 week my guess is as little as conception
