Each state's criteria is different. It mainly concerns how much of a burden it becomes on the employee as to whether it's a problem in commuting to work and whether it was beyond the workers control.

That depends on your current location.

Another answer:

More importantly, the distance and reason for the relocation. If the move was a substantial hardship because it was too far for normal commuting, or the employer required the move in order to keep your job, then you may be eligible. If you moved a short distance, or the reason was not job related, you may not be eligible.

What is length of time to collect unemployment in Illinois?

Looks like right now you can get 26 weeks of unemployment assuming you have enough benefits to collect the full 26 weeks. And if you are eligible you can qualify for an additional 33 weeks of emergency unemployment benefits.

Does an employer have to respond to an unemployment claim before benefits can be received?

Absolutely

Can you collect unemployment if you refuse a job offer?

If you turned down the other job then it's doubtful. To collect unemployment you need to show willing to get back into work, turning down a job puts you in a bad position when it comes to claiming benefits. There's usually a time-out period before you can start claiming again.

What if you find a job before your unemployment benefits run out?

You notify the unemployment commission, stop collecting benefits (unemployment is not an entitlement, it is something you receive as a benefit to help you get through a period when you are unemployed by no fault of your own), and move happily into your new position of employment.

Can you collect unemployment from California if you temporarily move to Illinois?

Yes, you can collect unemployment insurance if you have worked in Hawaii but moved to California. Even if you think you do not have enough in Hawaii's unemployment insurance to collect. I worked in California all my life and was offered a job in Hawaii in October 2008. I worked until March 2009 and then tried to collect while i lived in Hawaii. I was denied befits in Hawaii in March 2009, so I moved back to California and could not find work so i collected unemployment in California. It was a knowledgeable person in California EDD that recommended that i file in Hawaii versus California because of the amount i would collect there was a lot more than i collected here. I told them I was denied benefits over there because i did not work long enough over there (hence; i did not put enough money in Hawaii's Kitty) So California's EDD said they would transfer what I put in California's unemployment insurance to Hawaii's unemployment insurance, then that would make me eligible to collect.

Suppose your unemployment benefits do not cover your living expenses?

that's not uncommon. Unemployment benefits are intended to keep an unemployed individual afloat during their temporary time of unemployment. However, not all unemployment is created equal and the amount you receive depends on the state you live in, the amount you were paid before, and how long you worked there.

How long can you collect unemployment benefits in Maryland?

The state of Maryland offers unemployment benefits for a maximum duration of 26 weeks. The only case in which benefit period can be in excess of 26 weeks is if a Federal Extension program is available, which will be notified to the beneficiary. In all other cases only 26 weeks benefits can be claimed in one benefit year.

Can you collect unemployment if you are part time in Wisconsin?

Answer:Sometimes with a family, people are forced into part time work and are unable to make ends meet. Most states allow you to collect unemployment if working part time, under certain circumstances. Some may have you collect on a former employer if you are still in the benefit year and you had claimed unemployment before your present job. Much depends on the state you work in and their criteria. Contact your state unemployment office for clarification.

What do you do in Michigan when your benefit year for unemployment benefits is about to expire and you are still unemployed?

If the U.S. Senate determines to continue to fund the unemployment benefits this week, residents will continue to be able to receive their federally funded unemployment benefits, as if nothing happened. If you happen to be one of the many Michigan residents who are unemployed and are receiving unemployment benefits and you now have questions, call your local unemployment office. They will better be able to explain what you will qualify for and what you will not be receiving at this point. Rumors do fly in situations like this; however, find out the facts before taking everything that you hear to heart.

Can you collect unemployment benefits if diagnosed with depression and anxiety directly related to your job?

To collect unemployment benefits you must be ready, willing, and able to work. If you are not, you may fare better applying for disability benefits, if your problems are documented by a health professional and pervasive enough to qualify you. Many states will not provide unemployment benefits to individuals who voluntarily quit their job without cause (where "cause" is something about the environment that a reasonable person would not tolerate). You may have "cause", and then you may not have "cause" - it depends on the specifics of the rules of the state you are applying in, and the specifics of your situation. There is nothing to lose by filing for unemployment benefits and letting the agency make the decision. Make sure you document everything very specifically so they have all the pertinent information before making a decision.

Can you apply for student loan and receive unemployment benefits?

No. If you are a school student, or officially registered as a university or college student, you cannot collect unemployment. Different countries may have different rules. For example, in some countries, if you are eligible for employment under normal circumstances, meaning that you were terminated through no fault of yours, you may be eligible for unemployment while you return to school. It is best to call your corresponding unemployment office before making any life-changing decisions.

If you get laid off from full time work can you still collect unemployment if you work only five hours a week?

In Illinois it doesn't matter how many hours you work, only the amount you gross during a 7 day period. You are allowed to make up to 50% of your gross weekly unemployment benefits before you start losing money from unemployment. IE...If you gross 100.00 a week from unemployment, you can gross 50.00 from a job and still get a full 100.00 from unemployment. If you make 51.00 from a job, you get 99.00...I would check out your states unemployment website for full details on your state. Hope that helps.
