How far in advance do you send out wedding reception invites if you are eloping to get married we want to have a party when we return. Is 3 weeks notice to RSVP not enough time?

* Six weeks is more appropriate if you are getting married in the summer as people go away on holidays and your dates may clash. If you only have three weeks then you will have to do the best you can. Be sure to put an small card inside your invitation that will say something like Mr. _____Mrs._____Ms. & Guest ____ will attend ___ or will not be attending ____, so that you will know if they are coming or not. Also include 'RSVP' by the date you want them to answer. Example: You are getting married on July 1st, 2009, then put 'RSVP June 10th, 2009.
