All of the unmanned space-exploration vehicles communicate with the tracking stations on earth in the form of digitally encoded signaling. That includes artificial earth satellites, the Hubble Space Telescope, the two rovers currently operating on Mars, missions to the planets, and a couple of machines launched many years ago that have left the solar system and are still in touch with earth.
