After a broken bone heals will the bone always have a weak spot?

people say that they grow back stronger but i have broken my wrist 3 times in 7 years, the 1st time, a clean snap but the other 2 were from simple falling over in netball and tennis and was just a fracture and its now the doctors say i probably have a weak spot where i 1st broke it.

How does a fracture bone grow?

Fractures grow when the body's natural defenses to affected areas(in this case, the broken bone) allow certain substances (such as calcium to mend bone) to heal the fracture.

What if a broken bone was never set?

Many bones actually set them selves after being broken. It do depend on what bone it is and where it is broken. If not checked and possibly realigned by a doctor, the bone may grow back together at an angle. This may cause further discomfort later. Some bone splinters may never grow back in place and might cause terrible agony now and then.

What might happen to a broken bone if it was put in place by a splint or a cast?

It will begin to grow together and mend. It will, at first, over grow and form a callus. This extra bone will be removed in a process called remodeling.

Can you move a broken knuckle?

Well, right now at the moment i have a splint thingy on my wrist. I just recently got my cast off maybe 2 weeks ago. My wrist was broken really badly, 2 bones were broken, it broke right at my growth plate, and on top of that it broke at a slanted angle. So, since I'm still growing, my doctor wanted my bones to be aligned and stay aligned perfectly so my wrist would grow the way it was supposed to. I almost had to have pins put into my wrist, and the day i went in to have the surgery to put the pins in, they changed their mind at the last minute and decided to just replace my cast. I had to stay off of school for probably about 2 weeks, maybe a little bit more, because my doctor & dad didn't want my bone to move. See, since my bone was broken in a slant, it slid out of place VERY easily. The day i went to the ER, when i first broke it, they had to replace my cast 3 times because my bone kept sliding/moving. SO, my answer to your question is, i couldn't move MY broken wrist, so you probably shouldn't either.

What protects the human bones and repairs broken bones?

The periosteum multiplies to grow and repair bones when they break. If the bone is not set for proper repair by the periosteum, then it will heal as is.

How can a broken bone affect the human body?

With regards to movement and support to the body, a broken bone will reduce the ability of the bone to support the weight of the body. A bone acts as a frame for the muscle to pull against and thus enable movement. The muscle is unable to pull against a broken bone and therefore movement is reduced or not possible at all.

Will a healed broken bone still grow in terms of height or length I'm referring to a child whose height can still grow.?

Usually. There are cases where the bone will not grow properly because of the location of the fracture - in the growth plate of the bone. Usually a doctor who treats the child will notice this and watch carefully for normal growth after the injury. There are ways to get the bone to grow, but they are not simple solutions and you should discuss them with your doctor.

Do bones reproduce?

Is a dead piece of bone that is partially or fully detached from healthy bone?

This would be called a sequestrum and is a serious medical complication of a broken bone. The dead bone will not be resorbed by the body and it is often in the way of where healthy new bone needs to grow, so often the sequestrum needs to be surgically removed.

Will you ever grow?

Yes. People grow by age, everything does. And than some adults claim at a certain age, they shrink. Which they do, because their bone deterioates, and than so on. So you will grow, just not fast.
