Depends on model, headwind, your size and weight.
Maxis and older stepthroughs 25 to 30 MPH. VS50 from the 70's, often yellow with a twist grip gear change are faster but I don't really know 35 to 40 MPH. MS50 from the 70's a mini motor bike with pedals I think did 40 plus. These are UK models, I believe that Japanese and US models may have had larger 70 cc engines so you could add say 10 MPH?
