How do you remove a broken light bulb?

Before anything make sure the light is OFF. You may want to turn off the circuit breaker or pull the fuse out to make sure! In all cases you should wear eye protection, as you are usually looking up into the light, unless it is a lamp.

BE CAREFUL! Using a potato: Cut a potato in half use one end the potato and press in into the broken half of the light bulb. Then twist the broken bulb out

Using pliers: * Use the handle of a screwdriver with a soft rubber handle. Press it into the broken bulb and rotate. You may need to use a pair of pliers to turn the screwdriver. * Use a pair of insulated pliers and slightly turn in one corner of the bulb base to allow a good grip. This requires a bit of technique to get the forces right to turn it!

Never heard of this but I have had some onery tubes in the past. Cut the power off the light. Grab the tube and turn it anticlockwise 1/2 turnv while pulling down lightly No? Then try clockwise. No?

First turn off the light switch. Go get a potato and cut it in half. Take one of the halves and jam the flat just-cut part into whats left of the bulb. Then turn the potato counter-clockwise and hope it unscrews the bottom part of the bulb.

For appliances not easily unplugged, ceiling or wall fixtures either:

1. Power off the fixture at the breaker and remove the metal bulb base with pliers

or

2. Power off the fixture at the breaker and remove the metal bulb base by inserting a rubber stopper of appropriate diameter to turn it

first make sure you wear safety gogles,get your hand at the side by where pins are at, pull down one side at at time, and done, to replace with new-ones it just go back-wards,get the other end oposite to the pins, insert it to the small hang clip first, then one pined side at at time "ta-ran" you job is done.

I will tell you how I have done it -- with a potato! God bless the potato! We had tried everything. Then read about this trick somewhere online. Cut a potato in half. Shove the cut end up firmly onto the broken bulb end and twist it out. Worked like a charm. As always when working with electricity, make sure power is off. Good luck!

I am assuming you have a bulb broke completely off in the socket of a light fixture. Turn the power off to that fixture, then use a raw potato and push it in to the remaining part of the bulb in the socket and turn. I have used this method many times with success!
