Ambulance service is just that; a service. Usually a privatecompany, providing a service (showing up and quickly getting you toa hospital when you call 911). They don't get paid by the hospitalor the "ambulance fairy", so generally when you are transported byambulance, you get a bill from them as yo…u would any otherbusiness. Many times insurance covers the cost, and if someone hasno insurance, you get a bill for the cost of the driver, themedical staff, insurance etc... the costs of emergencytransportation. In America, on a ground vehicle ambulance, nurses are not required and almost never attend. Pretty much the only time you'll see a nurse in a standard ambulance, is if one of the EMT's is training to become a nurse.. Medivac Flights (chopper or plane), however, almost always have at least one nurse… on crew.. Other countries use different protocols and may dispatch doctors and/or nurses with the unit. (MORE)

Can help towards many diseases, these are three of them: Alzheimer's disease: (Alzheimer's patients have a reduced amount of the substance acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter in many of our nervous systems A neurotransmitter is simply the message which is sent by neurons. When there …is a lack of acetylcholine a hole in the communication within the brain occurs. THC which is one of the 60 cannabinoids present in marijuana acts as an enzyme inhibitor towards the enzyme which increases the rate of which acetylcholine is broken down. ) Cancer: (Marijuana doesn't increase the risk of getting lung cancer, researchers have discussed the possibility that THC causes cells to die before they have become cancerous. However, it has been proven that THC prevents cancer tumours from spreading. Breast cancer: the cannabinoid CBD works by blocking the activity of a gene which is said to cause the spreading of cancer tumours. Brain cancer: THC kills cancerous cells in the brain by making the cells feed upon themselves but it leaves the normal cells intact. Scientists do not know what causes this reaction. ) HIV/AIDS: (For HIV marijuana works as a pain killer. Marijuana relives pain by altering the way which receptors in the limbic system act and process information. The limbic system is a part of the brain which among others is one of the three parts which processes pain. THC is the substance in marijuana which is the reason to why this happens. The THC attaches to the neurons in the brain and affects the communication between them. Most often THC makes the message become the opposite of what it was from the beginning. This is why we don't feel pain in the same way after smoking marijuana. ) (MORE)

The benefits of zoos are many. They provide a safe 'refuge' where animals can live, free of predators and parasites. I am glad you asked! Education helps us to discover our interests, which fundamentally allows us to discover happiness. Who would have known that you'd fall in love with astronomy if you never learned about it? It is only through education that you could arrive at such a realization, and things you… enjoy tend to make us happy. Education also allows us to think for ourselves. Ever hear that saying "Knowledge is power"? That is because when we have knowledge, we are difficult to deceive. The more knowledge we possess means that there is a lesser chance of you getting suckered into things. Want an example? Luring a child into a van via "free candy". Poor little fellow didn't know any better because he was not educated on the topic. With education, we are less likely to be taken advantage of. I can name countless scenarios, and I am sure that you can think of a few as well. Education is progress. Why do we live in a world so filled with technology? Because scientists made discoveries and put them in action. Where's the bridge that ties us between our stone-age days and today/the future? Education, knowledge and learning. They are the sole reason for our advancement. Nothing would have ever been discovered if we did not yearn to learn more, and we would still be living in the stone age. I hope I provided some enlightenment! Sorry that this is so long, but I can promise you that there is more! Unfortunately, this is all that comes to my mind. So go on, learn! You as a human have the ability to unlock a limitless world of knowledge, so why not take advantage? (MORE)
Answer Well it will definitely make our taxes go WAY up,but the bill willalso make sure that everyone has health care/insurance Answer We can't say health care reform will "definitely" do anything, yet.The hope is more people will be covered by insurance; insurancebenefits will improve; peopl…e won't be denied coverage forpreexisting conditions; hospital funding should stabilize (fewerunreimbursed services); access to primary care doctors is expectedto improve; many individuals and small businesses will be receivesubsidies and tax relief to help pay premiums; the risk pool shouldstabilize as younger, healthier people are required to becomeinsured, and so on. And yes, our taxes will probably increase atsome point, although it is by no means clear by how much, andcertainly unjustified to say they will "definitely" go "WAY up." It's important to recognize that many of the visible costs (taxes, for example) of health care reform will be the result of costshifting. We're already paying about $1,000 a year, each, in hiddencosts to cover unreimbursed medical treatment for uninsuredpatients. Hospital bills also include significant mark-ups for thesame reason. Some of those costs may become visible in the form ofvarious kinds of taxes. The Democrats would be inclined to placethe burden on higher income workers, corporations, and luxury itemsand services; whereas the Republicans would be more inclined toplace the burden on the general populace (and then blame theDemocrats for creating an untenable situation). Any way you look at it good health care costs money, and theoverall expense must be borne somewhat fairly by those receivingit, meaning all of us. For factual information on the new health care legislation, seeRelated Links, below. Obamacare is a trainwreck. It's going to cost much more than Obamasaid it was, and most medical professionals are against it, as are60% of Americans. People like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have lied about this lawfrom the beginning, and are placing the blame of the shutdown atthe feet of those trying to help the populace. An ALS ambulance is an Advanced Life Support ambulance. It carries things like medications given intravenously and allows for some more invasive treatment in the case of emergencies, such as tracheotomies (running a tube down your trachea).
why a ambulance has a siren a ambulance has a siren because if someones about to die from being stabed and the ambulance is caught in traffic the person will die so a siren will create a sound that the cars in front can hear they'll move out the way so the ambulance can get to the person fast
We need ambulances so they can take sick people or hurt people to the hospital quicker. They have a loud siren that warns everyone that someone is hurt or sick. When you see them passing by or blowing the horn """STOP""" and let them get the sick or hurt people to the hospital.
That depends on what type of ambulance you are talking about. Emergency Ambulance: most common type which provide care to people with an illness or injury. It can be road-going van, boat, helicopter, or fixed-wing aircraft also known as air ambulance. Patient transport ambulance: a vehicle in which …is used for transporting patients to, from or between different places for medical treatment such as hospital or dialysis for any non-urgent care. Response unit: this is also known as a fly-car and is used to reach an acutely ill or injured patient quickly so that they may give on site medical care. This type of ambulance however does not have the ability to transport patients. Response units must be backed up by an emergency ambulance. Response units can be anything from a standard car, modified van, motorcycle, bicycle, quads or horses. Charity ambulance: special type of transport ambulance for the purpose of taking sick children or adults on trips/vacations away from hospitals, hospices or care homes where they are for long term care. Ambulance attendant is an old name for what is now known as an EMT or paramedic. In today's ambulances there are two people in each vehicle, supplemented by additional persons from the fire department in the case of a critical transport. In the case where two people involved, there is a driver and a…n attendant. The attendant, who is either an EMT or paramedic, is the one who sits in the ambulance with the patient until they arrived at a hospital. Ambulance drivers, who are often also EMT or paramedics, are going to be charged with driving the ambulance. If the driver is an EMT or paramedic he will take that role once he arrives at the pickup site or the hospital. (MORE)

It depends on where you are in the world. In the US, most ambulances sirens have 2 or 3 settings....a long, slowly ascending and descending Whooo sound, a short rapidly ascending and descending warble tone, and sometimes a 3rd, higher, louder, phazer sound (my favorite to get attention of complace…nt drivers). Rarely , US rigs will have a European, up/down, British, DA/da/DA/da/DA tone. We have 1 rig at our department with the rare European setting. I love to use that setting through intersections here in the US just to mess with people, because most Americans have never heard that tone, except in movies. Ambulances in the US also have either a genuine air powered horn (awesome), and/or an electronic simulated air horn sound (lame). If you pay attention, before long you will able to tell the difference between police, ambulance, fire engines, and personally owned emergency response sirens just by the subtle sounds of each siren. The loudest, best siren is the air powered siren on the Fire Engines. They are controlled by a foot button located on the floor of both the driver and passenger/officer seat of the engine, an air pump, and a big, loud, steel speaker horn. They are easily the loudest siren available. Some police cars in the US have a "Rumbler Siren" that bottoms out at a subsonic level to send shock waves into the ground and surrounding areas, so that even if you have a crazy loud stereo cranked up in your car, you will feel the police siren in your bones....pretty cool. Ambulance sirens are usually between 100 and 200 watts of powered sound, and about half of the drivers on the road are completely oblivious to both lights and sirens until you are really close. When you see emergency lights behind you with a siren in America, pull to the RIGHT and stop. They will always pass you on the left in the US. If it a cop, you will notice blue lights. It is very rare for any other emergency vehicles to employ blue lights in their ensemble...and usually illegal. If an unmarked police car attempts to pull you over, call 911 and verify the identity of the unmarked car before pulling over, or drive to the local PD if it is close. Although illegal, it is not hard hard to obtain emergency lights in the US, and is a tool used by criminals to pull over victims. Rare, but it happens. (MORE)

Ambulances are commonly staffed in two person crews. The type of licensure these people have depend on the type of ambulance they are operating in. The other crew member is either another EMT-B, EMT-A, or an Medical First Responder (MFR). A BLS truck is equipped to deal with most emergencies but will not have all the capabilities of an ALS truck. ALS trucks are staffed with at least one EMT-Paramedic, and either an EMT-B, EMT-A, or another EMT-P. These trucks and crew are trained in advanced methods such as cardiology and pharmacology and are able to do things like EKGs, start IVs and administer drugs, and intubate. An ambulance will always have at least an EMT-Basic, and most ambulances are ALS, meaning they have at least one Paramedic at all times. (MORE)
