this could probably be debated all day long by people, and I'm just going to give my honest opinion, I mean no offense to anyone.

Moral degradation is the biggest negative impact that television has had on our society. fifty years ago, you would have never seen anything like we have today. I have noticed a huge shift in what is "acceptable" just since I was about 10, I'm only 20 now. Looking back on television, when I was younger, I cannot remember any of the things I see today. Things such as vague sexual innuendos. I feel that this is the biggest detriment to our society, people simply losing touch with morals.

Furthermore, and im sure your can find all kinds of psychological studies on this, and it is not just tv, violence towards women, and violence in general is not just accepted, it promoted! Now, im a big fan of the UFC, I love it. I watch fights whenever I get a chance, and even started trainging at one point. However, I am able to step back and know that that kind of violence is only acceptable in that context. If you go out on the street and beat somebody the way some of those guys get beat, you may be behind bars the rest of your life. It isnt just in sports that we see it though. Have you ever seen an episode of Law and Order, CSI, etc. That didnt have at least one disgustingly violent crime commited. and better than 50% of the time they center around sexual assult. now its rediculous to think that someone watches an episode of CSI and then snaps. (although im not dismissing that, the brain is a weird thing) However it is a dumbing down of our basic human sensitivitys that causes some of the violence we see, and this is largely due to the violent images we are seeing on tv all of our lives.

Im sure I could go on for another hour or so, but ill wrap up my little tyrade. Hope I was able to help a little!
