The Isles of Scilly are a temperate climate taking on the relative temperature of the sea that surrounds it.

This means that winter temps rarely get below freezing if at freezing at all.

And in the summer is normally limited to around 25 degrees celsius.

That said it feels much warmer than that on a sunny summers day and with added wind chill can feel colder than freezing in the winter.

However frost is highly unusual and snow very rare.

Scilly is always warmer than the mainland in the winter and this is where Scilly gains is "Sub-Tropical" status.

Temperatures in the Isles of Scilly rarely get below freezing in the winter.

Winter this year (2010) the lowest recorded here was about -3 C.

In the summer because of our oceanic climate it doesn't get much hotter than around 25 C. With a normal warm summer day being around 21-22 degrees Celsius.

The reason for this is the same for why we don't get too cold and that is because we are surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean that doesn't get much colder than 6-7 degrees in the winter or much warmer than 18 C in the summer!

The sea temperature stabilises the temperatures keeping them a nice climate all year around.

The only difference being is that we are susceptible to sea breezes giving us a high wind chill in the winter and also caps the heat on sunny summer days.
