Buddhism is a very old religion. Rather than Religion, sometimes people call it way of life or a philosophy. As it is a very old religion which is more than 2500 years old; yet it is applicable to the modern society. It is based on ethical living and mental training for the development of the mind. Buddhism has been in Asia for more than 2500 years. Now a day, Buddhism is practised in the West. The famous Vajrayana monk Dalai Lama, and Mahayana monk Thich Naht Hanh influence alot in the West and Europe. They are a type of media to the West.
Buddhism teaches love, compassion, tolerance, and mental development. The world needs peace and harmony as war and conflict among countries have over taken us. All religions Buddhism, Christinity, Islam..etc., must join in hands for improvement of the Peace and harmony among people, countries and the world as whole.
So, now a day, like UNDV (United Nations Day of Vesak), Engaged Buddhism, Soka Gakkai movement, etc., portray in the medias. From my point of view, all people have their own resposibilities to take care this beautiful earth for our future generation facing our proper needs. Medias must influence especially to the younger generations because they are the future. Human populations have increased dramatically while the resources not increasing. If the individuals do not take resposibilities, we can imagine what would be our world in the near future.
