The Govenor General is the direct representative of the Queen, in Canada. She is also the Chief of the Canadian Forces. The GG 's main role is to promote unity and harmony in Canada and to preside at the opening of a new session of Parliament, and to read the "speech from the throne, outlineing the plans for the Government's new bills that will be introduced for discussion in the House.
