In the novel, Professor van Helsing says he has many powers:
- He is as strong as twenty adult men.
- He can take on the form of a bat or a wolf.
- He does not get older.
- etc.
He's powerful because he can hypnotize humans and can control the weather as well as some animals.

An amulet of the shape of a dragon was presented to him. Leading him to the name of Dracula. He was a man who was named and presented with an amulet of a dragon... leading to the name Dracula. He was a bloodthirsty ruler. He tortured people. The name was given to him because of the amulet he was presented with. Of course he grew into his name. Just as an example, he put people in a stake (alive) and watched them sink onto it by their own weight. At one time there was up to 400 people in a yard of stakes. This was one of his favorite ways of being entertained.
In some adaptations of the Dracula story, such as the 1931 film "Dracula's Daughter," Dracula is portrayed as having a daughter rather than a son. This daughter is typically named Countess Marya Zaleska.

Easily, as they both deal with vampires and how they are perceived by society. In 1931 Dracula was seen as a thoroughly dangerous supernatural being; romantic yet evil. In 2008 the vampires of Twilight are presented with more scientific plausibility, and balanced with sympathy for some of them. There are still evil vampires in Twilight, but some of them are actually presented as good, doing no harm to humans, and trying to fit in and make the best of it.

In Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer, it is Edward Cullen. I can't stop thinking about him. In Vampire Kisses, by Ellen Schrieber, it is Alexander Sterling. For me, it has to be Damon Salvatore followed by Eric Northman. Jasper or Dracula. But Dracula looks a little like Carlisle come to think of it. I would say that out of all vampire literature, it would have to be Dracula, as in many stories he is the original and most powerful vampire.
