Tonga ruled all of the Pacific
Tonga doesn't have a president! it is ruled by king tupou the 5
Absolutely not! In fact, during the Tui Dynasty, Tonga ruled over the entire Pacific Ocean...Samoa, Tahiti, Marquesas, Hawaii
yes it did by heaps..Yes, Tonga ruled the Western parts of Fiji led by King Ma'afu. All of the (now) Lau Group, parts of Vanua Levu and Taveuni was onced ruled by King Ma'afu of Tonga until tribal wars broke out between Ma'afu his mans and some Fijian Chiefs. The closest island of Fiji near Tonga is the Minearva Reef. Claimed by both Fiji & Tonga.
well, the Gilbert Islands were ruled by the British Empire.
No, Samoa never ruled Fiji in the olden days or colonial era. King Ma'afu once ruled the Lau Group but he is from Tonga.
Although it is not certain of the era or time, Tongans have ruled Samoa at one point. Before Tonga was established as the monarchy "The Kingdom of Tonga," or what is now a Constitutional Monarchy, with a prime minister- it was similar to the colonies that comprised the first U.S. (Vava'u, Ha'apai, Tongatapu and etc. had their own ruler.) It is not known which Tongan dynasty it was that ruled. To identify this is very important because until the current reigning dynasty (Tupou 1), Tonga was not The Kingdom of Tonga. It was still consisted of colonies. Individual Tongans and individual Samoans have had a lot of discontent towards each other because of the past where Tonga once ruled Samoa, and the claims that Samoans were former slaves of Tonga. There has been much heated competition, in the modern age, involving Tonga and Samoa in Rugby. One of the best Rugby players of all time is Jonah Lomu, of Tongan descent. But there has not been much representation of Tonga since then. Samoa, on the other hand, has played very well in 2010, winning the Sevens Cup in Las Vegas and moved on to take the Japan cup as well. Tongans and Samoans are very beautiful people and it is a shame that there is ethnic rivalry. But it is wonderful to know that there are Tongans and Samoans who have enough respect for each other and themselves to get along with one another.
Tonga was always Tonga when it started. But it orgionally called the Tu'i Tonga Empire when it started in 900BC
It means "I will die for Tonga"
The official name of Tonga is the Kingdom of Tonga.
If its the polynesian word "Tonga" it means south
Tonga is. But Samoa is Bigger than Tonga.
