Best Answer

Biomass should be used as an energy resource because it contains carbon that has been captured out of the atmosphere. It is carbon that is going to end up once again in biomass. It is not like the carbon released in the burning of coal, oil, or natural gas that has been stored away in the earth for millions of years. In other words, fuel from biomass has close to a zero carbon 'footprint'.
