When they're small and clean they're harmless, but when they get big and infected, they can be very painful and nasty, can't they? Sometimes they can be treated with regularly applied warm moist compresses that encourage them to burst. Most of the time the pain ends the moment the cyst bursts. Get ready to wash carefully; the sebum inside has an intensely foul odor (you probably already know that). Others may have to be treated surgically. Don't do anything without checking with your healthcare provider first. You don't want to neglect an infected cyst, or treat it inappropriately.

We all have many sebaceous glands and most of the time they drain properly. Now and then one gets clogged and causes a problem.
