You make it bubble through calcium hydroxide (or lime water). If it goes cloudy, then you have carbon dioxide.
It makes it rise :)
It is used for the bubbles in lemonade and fire extuinguishers.
CO2 IS being used and has been used for over 100 years. European and japanese auto and commercial use is growing fast!
