How is democracy different from representative democracy?

Answer:
Technically, a representative democracy would still be considered a democracy. However, a true democracy, as was used by the Greeks, would look more like town hall meetings today in which every citizen can participate in voting and deciding issues. In a representative democracy, the people do not directly participate, rather they elect representatives to decide on issues in their place. The United States functions as a representative democracy.
