The similarities of guidance and counseling are that they both are meant to help people in doing something, and allow them to achieve a goal that wouldn't have been possible without help.

The differences of guidance and counseling are that guidance is just helping someone along, but still letting that person do a big portion of the work, while counseling is more of an intervention and helps the person pretty much all the way through the work because they could not do it themselves, or would have failed doing it without an intervention to help the person.

Both words are about giving advice. "Guidance" means showing someone the direction toward something, being a "guide". In a figurative sense it means showing someone which choices they should make. "Counselling" means advising, giving someone counsel or advice. Apart from its general meaning it has specific meanings when applied to people giving psychological advice, or in law in the United States where the name "counsellor" is often given to a lawyer, a giver of legal advice.

In schools you sometimes find the somewhat redundant "guidance counsellor" who advises people on what choices they should make.

so i mean the only thing i could find a little different between the two would be counselors will go back and forth with their patients or just the person who goes to them for help both the counselor and the patient will exchange opinions and ideas and then with guidance it is more or less a person goes to a counselor and tells them their problem and the counselor or any person can give them advice on what to do and they can take that advice or leave it.
