How will the electricity needed to make hydrogen be made?

At my work we have a product that produces HHO for GM.

It's a trade secret!

But lets put it this way more then it take to make that same electricity!

You always have the issue of the law of entropy which is one of the basic law of thermodynamics.

1st law you can't get something from nothing!

2nd law You always loss energy!

Your talking about HHO from water right use electrolysis, because you can also use Mathian gas and push it through a catalyst "filter" like desalination.

Now if we could just pump hydrogen out of the ground then it would be cheap!

So until we can't pump fuel out of the ground doing anything else is a wast of energy!

This can be done with a fuel cell where hydrogen reacts with oxygen to produce electricity.

One of the main offerings of a hydrogen economy is that fuel cells can replace internal combustion engines and turbines as the primary way to convert chemical energy into kinetic or electrical energy. The reason to expect this changeover is that fuel cells, being electrochemical, are usually (and theoretically) more efficient than heat engines. Currently, fuel cells are more expensive to produce than common internal combustion engines, but are becoming cheaper as new technologies and production systems develop. Some types of fuel cells work with hydrocarbon fuels while all can be operated on pure hydrogen. In the event that fuel cells become price-competitive with internal combustion engines and turbines, large gas-fired power plants could adopt this technology. Such commercialization would be an important step in driving down the cost of fuel cell technology. Much of the interest in the hydrogen economy concept is focused on the use of fuel cells in cars. The cells can have a superior power-to-weight ratio , are much more efficient than internal combustion engines, and produce no harmful emissions. If a practical and engineer-able method to store and carry hydrogen is introduced and fuel cells become cheaper, they can be economically viable to power hybrid fuel cell/battery vehicles, or purely fuel cell-driven ones.

Currently it takes 2½ times as much energy to make a hydrogen fuel cell than is obtained from it during its service life.

It depends on what country produces the hydrogen. France gets most of its electricity from nuclear power stations. The UK currently has plans to get a quarter of its electricity from wind. Hydrogen fuel is a great way to reduce CO2 emmisions but only if the energy used to produce it hasn't come from fossil fuel sources.
