Raising marijuana

Most grass is raised out of doors, during the summer growing season. However, some is grown indoors under artificial light, with the 'hydroponic' method, which entails planting in vessels filled with gravel, which can drain easily into a collection trough. A nutrient solution is pumped into the vessels at certain intervals of time, so that the roots of the plants do not dry out, but are not kept submerged at all. Some varieties of grass grown in this way are worth about 3,600 dollars a pound, even though it only costs about 25 dollars in electricity and nutrients to produce one pound.

Harvesting marijuana

When the plant is harvested, it is hung upside down in a dark room for up to a week, and then the buds are trimmed from the stem. These buds contain the highest levels of delta 9 Tetra-Hydro-Cannabinol, the psychoactive substance in hemp.
