How is pearl diving done today?

Answer:
In Bahrain pearl diving stopped in the 1930s. it is only practiced by a select few, and only for fun. the dive boat lowers baskets over the side and the vessel drifts over the oyster beds. the diver holds the basket with one hand and picks up the oysters with the other. very easy and effective. you just need to know the areas and the type of oysters to pick up. 1 in 5 will produce a pearl if you get it right
