How is tapeworm spread from person to person? |
[Edit] |
It is unusual for cross human infection by tapeworm because we wash our hands regularly and if not we should be.
It is more likely that you're being infected by eating undercooked meat particularly Pork which usually carries the tapeworm larvae in the meat.
I suggest that you also treat any pet (dogs in particular) or pets if you have more than one.
However, it is easily treated by some pills from your doctor and in the case of your pets, veterinarian or -so I am told- can be bought across the counter in pharmacists and pet stores.
Tapeworm can live for up to 25 years and usually grows several yards/metres in length. You must take the full course and if you're re-infected take another full course. Sometimes it takes more than one course of treament to irradicate the worm or worms.
